Troy, NC(June 10, 2009) -- Winning a race anywhere can be a huge accomplishment, but to win a race at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA is monumental when you consider the competition you're racing against.

Tommy Lemons, Jr. has been pounding the pavement at Motor Mile Speedway for the last couple of seasons with little to no success, but in the last month he's turned up the wick and put himself and his team in victory lane. On May 2nd, Lemons used an

invert of the top finishing cars in race one to his advantage in the second twin race of the night to claim his first career win at Motor Mile Speedway.

One month later on June 6th, Lemons was back in the hunt for victory again after having mechanical problems in the last race at Motor Mile and though he dominate the race like he did in May, he was ready to pounce when the opportunity came his way. Lemons qualified third for the 150-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car race, but found himself in second on lap seven quickly tracking down the leader.

The leader was able to keep Lemons at bay for many laps despite a strong challenge from the 22-year old wheel man. Lemons continued to work the back bumper of the leader when on lap 71 he finally got along side him and they raced hard for the position for nearly six laps when a caution waved over the stout 25-car field. Lap 77, Lemons officially took over the lead, but the race was far from over as the young driver would have to fend off some strong challenges.

Lemons found a two-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series National Points Champion on his back bumper for the final circuits of the race, but he had a three to four car length lead late when a caution prolonged the race. The 150-lap race was sent into overtime and Lemons had to get up on the wheel in the final green, white, checkered finish, but as the green flag waved Lemons headed into turn one when he found the National Champion peeking underneath him for the position.

It looked as if all Lemons hard work to get the lead was going to be washed away in the final two laps of the race, but Lemons kept himself out front and pulled away to over a car length lead at the checkered flag. Lemons proved to the world that his first win two races ago wasn't a fluke as he beat the best of the best in a final dash to the finish.

"It felt like the biggest win of my career and it probably is," said Lemons following his second win in two races at Motor Mile Speedway. "To come up here to this track against the best competition anywhere and win two out of the last three races is incredible. I can't say enough about this crew and what they've done every week to make sure we were up front."

Lemons, though he's won two of the last three races has found himself being a little hit or miss as the team has seen a handful of mechanical problems sideline him to 20th place or worse finishes so far this season. So far this season at Motor Mile his finishes have been(from start of the season to now); 21st, 4th, 3rd, 1st, 21st and 1st.

"We've been competitive every week, but it's those weeks when we have problems that keep sticking out and these wins sure go a long way to forgeting those races. This week my crew chief, Brandon Davis had the car dialed in the moment we rolled off the truck and we stayed that way until the checkered flag."

Lemons competes in a Marlowe Racing Chassis powered by a Cox Racing Engine and the up-and-coming driver is supported by; Bailey's Cigarettes, Lemons Backhoe, Summit Construction, Sedberry Construction, Colonial LP Gas and Troy Sporting Goods.

Lemons competes for the championship at Motor Mile Speedway, but also competes in selected events at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA and Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC. This week the Motor Mile Speedway is in action again with another 150-lap race and Lemons will stay busy over the next few weeks as he'll be at Caraway on June 20th, back at Motor Mile on June 27th, Caraway on July 1st, South Boston on July 3rd and back to Motor Mile for Twin 100-lap races on July 11th.
